You Have a Choice in How You Heal.

Fibroadenomas are highly common, benign (non-cancerous) breast lumps often found in young women. When a lump is discovered, the immediate priority is safety. In a panic, many women rush to a general surgeon to have it removed. However, general surgeons are trained to remove pathology, not to preserve aesthetics.

The standard general surgery approach is to make a straight incision directly through the skin covering the lump. This results in a highly visible, permanent scar right in the middle of the breast, often accompanied by an unnatural "dent" where the tissue was removed.

General Surgery Approach

  • Direct incision directly over the lump.
  • Highly visible, permanent scar on the breast.
  • Often leaves a "dent" or contour deformity.
  • Primary focus is removal, not aesthetics.

Plastic Surgery Approach

  • Incision hidden in natural anatomical folds.
  • No visible scar on the main breast mound.
  • Internal tissue realignment prevents any "dents".
  • 100% safe removal while preserving beauty.

The Art of the Hidden Incision

As a Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Pawan utilizes advanced micro-surgical techniques to access and extract the fibroadenoma safely from a distance, rather than cutting directly over it.

1. The Periareolar Approach

If the lump is located near the center or upper half of the breast, Dr. Pawan makes a tiny, semi-circular incision precisely along the border of the areola. Because this area is a natural color transition, the healed scar becomes virtually undetectable.

2. The Inframammary Approach

If the lump is in the lower half of the breast, the incision is hidden deep within the natural crease beneath the breast (the inframammary fold). The scar is completely hidden by the breast’s natural drop.

3. Complete Pathological Safety

Despite the hidden approach, the lump is completely and safely excised intact. It is always sent to a top-tier laboratory for routine biopsy and histopathology to ensure your absolute safety and peace of mind.

Preserving Your Natural Contour

When a large lump is removed, it leaves an empty space (a void) inside the breast. If left alone, the skin collapses into this void, creating an unnatural indentation or "dent." Dr. Pawan utilizes a specialized plastic surgery technique called Glandular Flap Realignment. He meticulously shifts and sutures the surrounding healthy breast tissue together to seamlessly fill the void, ensuring your breast remains perfectly round, smooth, and symmetrical after healing.

Advanced Laser Scar Fading

Even though your incision is hidden, we want it to heal flawlessly. Because Mayflower operates an elite MedSpa, your post-operative care includes advanced laser scar management. We utilize our Femto derma CO2 Laser (70W RF Metal Tube) to actively break down any residual scar tissue, ensuring your hidden incision fades into an imperceptible, soft line rapidly.

Recovery & Surgical Insights

Is the surgery painful?
The procedure is typically performed under local anesthesia with light sedation, or short general anesthesia. You will feel zero pain during the removal. Post-operatively, it feels like a mild bruise, which is easily managed with standard oral painkillers for 2 to 3 days.
How fast can I return to work?
Fibroadenoma removal is a day-care procedure, meaning you go home the same day. Most patients return to normal, non-strenuous desk jobs within 2 to 3 days. You will wear a soft sports bra to support the tissue while it heals. Heavy gym workouts should be avoided for 3 weeks.
Will removing the lump change my breast size?
Unless the fibroadenoma was extremely massive (Giant Fibroadenoma), the removal will not noticeably change your cup size. Dr. Pawan's tissue realignment technique ensures the breast maintains its original aesthetic shape and volume projection.
Can fibroadenomas grow back?
Once a specific fibroadenoma is completely removed, that exact lump does not grow back. However, because fibroadenomas are influenced by reproductive hormones, it is possible for a woman to develop *new* fibroadenomas in different areas of the breast over time. Routine self-exams are always recommended.

Peace of Mind, Preserved Beauty.

"I had a large fibroadenoma removed by a general surgeon years ago, and it left a terrible dent in my right breast. When I found a new lump in my left breast, I went straight to Dr. Pawan. He removed it completely, and my breast looks perfectly round with no dent at all. The difference in skill is night and day."
