More Than a Cosmetic Choice. A Medical Necessity.

For women suffering from macromastia (excessively large breasts), the burden is physical, emotional, and exhausting. It dictates what you wear, prevents you from exercising, and leaves you with chronic neck and shoulder pain. Many women feel they just have to "live with it." You don't. Dr. Pawan Shahane specializes in Breast Reduction surgery that not only removes the heavy, excess tissue but also simultaneously lifts and reshapes the breast, restoring a youthful contour and profound physical relief.

"Our breast reduction patients consistently tell us the same thing post-surgery: 'I feel so incredibly light. I wish I had done this ten years ago.'"

Signs You Need a Reduction

If you experience these symptoms, you are an ideal candidate.

Chronic Pain

Persistent aching in your back, neck, and shoulders that isn't relieved by posture correction, massage, or supportive bras.

🩱

Deep Bra Grooves

The heavy weight of your breasts causes bra straps to cut deeply into your shoulders, leaving permanent, painful indentations.

🏃‍♀️

Restricted Activity

You avoid running, jumping, or high-impact gym workouts because the weight and movement of your breasts cause severe discomfort.

🩹

Skin Irritation

Chronic rashes, chafing, or fungal infections develop in the crease beneath the breast (inframammary fold) due to heavy, overlapping skin.

⚖️

Severe Asymmetry

One breast is significantly larger and heavier than the other, causing spinal misalignment and difficulty finding clothing that fits.

👗

Clothing Frustration

You are forced to buy tops several sizes too large just to accommodate your chest, masking the natural proportions of your waist and figure.

Breast Reduction Technique

The Art of Reduction Mammaplasty

A breast reduction is a complex, three-part surgery. Dr. Pawan removes excess fat, glandular tissue, and skin. Crucially, every reduction also includes a built-in Breast Lift (Mastopexy) to elevate the nipple to a youthful position.

The Precision Incision

Depending on the volume to be removed, Dr. Pawan utilizes either the "Lollipop" (vertical) or "Anchor" (inverted-T) incision pattern. These allow for maximum tissue removal while maintaining a beautiful, rounded lower pole.

Preserving the Pedicle

To preserve blood supply and nipple sensation, Dr. Pawan meticulously keeps the nipple attached to its underlying tissue (the pedicle) while shifting it higher on the chest wall.

Targeted Vaser Liposuction

To ensure a flawless transition from the breast to the underarm, Vaser Liposuction is often used to gently melt away excess "side-boob" or axillary fat during the procedure.

Advanced Scar Management

Because a Breast Reduction requires reshaping the skin envelope, surgical scars are inevitable. However, as a patient at Mayflower Aesthetics, you have access to our elite Regenerative MedSpa. Dr. Pawan integrates the Femto derma CO2 Laser (70W RF Metal Tube) into your post-operative healing protocol. This powerful laser breaks down dense scar tissue, ensuring your incisions rapidly fade into soft, fine lines that are easily hidden under swimwear.

Recovery & Surgical Insights

How long is the recovery time?
Most patients take 10 to 14 days off from work. You will feel sore, but the most common sensation reported is immediate relief from the heavy weight on the chest. You must wear a specialized surgical support bra 24/7 for 4 to 6 weeks. Heavy lifting and vigorous exercise are restricted for 6 weeks.
Will I lose sensation in my nipples?
Temporary numbness or hypersensitivity is very common for the first few months as the nerves regenerate. Because Dr. Pawan preserves the underlying nerve pathways (the pedicle), permanent loss of sensation is rare, though the risk increases slightly with extremely massive reductions.
Can I still breastfeed after a reduction?
Breast reduction surgery removes a portion of the glandular tissue and milk ducts. While some women can successfully breastfeed after the procedure, there is a significant risk of reduced milk supply. If you are planning to have children and want to breastfeed exclusively, we generally recommend waiting until your family is complete to undergo this surgery.
Will the fat grow back?
The glandular tissue and fat removed during surgery are gone permanently. However, the breasts can still change size if you experience significant weight gain, weight loss, or hormonal changes (like pregnancy or menopause) in the future.
